Iraqi intelligence chief commends IMCTC’s efforts in combating terrorism.

Secretary-General of the Islamic Military Counter Terrorism Coalition (IMCTC) Maj. Gen. Mohammed Bin Saeed Al-Moghedi received Director of the Iraqi Military Intelligence Maj. Gen. Zaid Hoshi Khalaf Wadi and his accompanying delegation at the IMCTC’s headquarters in Riyadh.
The two officials addressed issues of concern to the Republic of Iraq and IMCTC, and the latter’s role in coordinating and stepping up member nations’ efforts to combat all sorts of terrorism, including in the fields of ideology, communications, counter-terrorist financing, and military.

Maj. Gen. Wadi and the accompanying delegation toured the IMCTC’s headquarters and were briefed on the latest developments related to the actions of terrorist groups around the world and on IMCTCS’ monitoring and follow-up mechanisms of combating terrorism.

The Iraqi official commended IMCTC’s efforts in combating terrorism.

Maj. Gen. Al-Moghedi said that IMCTC is an integrated system that aims to strengthen cooperation among member states based on legitimacy, engagement, coordination, and autonomy, and ensures that their means and efforts are in line with international rules and regulations.

He added that terrorism is a scourge that must be combated by all countries and global organizations, and that the advance of modern methods aids in this combat.

He also said that confronting terrorists’ ideology is the first step towards eradicating terrorism, and that cutting off their funds, which help them carry out their malicious schemes, would result in their military defeat.

Maj. Gen. Al-Moghedi affirmed that Iraq had suffered at the hands of terrorist and extremist groups, and commended its constant efforts to combat terrorism.

He said he hoped the Iraqi government will join IMCTC to collaborate closely to stop this scourge, noting that the Republic of Iraq plays a vital role in combating terrorism and violent extremism in the region and in exchanging worldwide experience in this area.
