Iraq will adopt a balanced external policy — new prime minister
The newly designated Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammad Al-Sudani said on Sunday that his government would adopt a balanced foreign policy with regional and international states.
His office quoted him as saying in a statement that the aspired balanced relations would be on the basis of common interests and would safeguard Iraq's sovereignty.
The statement quoted the newly assigned prime minister as saying, during a reception of the UN representative in Iraq, Jeanine Plasschaert, that his manifesto focuses on utility issues and combating corruption.
It will also devote attention to the youth issues, human rights and affairs concerning the minorities, he added.
For her part, Plasschaert said the UN supports a new cabinet lineup that meets the Iraqi people aspirations.
