Security authorities in Riyadh have apprehended a group of expatriates accused of stealing electrical cables from schools and various public and private facilities within the capital.
The suspects were found to have stored the pilfered cables in unauthorized warehouses and yards, with the intention of reselling them through retail channels.
The Public Security department confirmed this information via their official X social media platform, stating that the implicated individuals had been referred to the Public Prosecution following the appropriate legal procedures.
This action was taken as part of an ongoing effort to combat criminal activity within the city.
Additionally, the Riyadh Education Department has alerted 51 schools in the capital about a temporary shift to remote learning due to the theft of electrical cables from their respective buildings.
This measure will remain in place until Thursday, pending the completion of necessary repairs.
The Ministry of Education notified school principals of this decision through official correspondence, with parents also receiving information regarding the transition to online classes.
The aim is to ensure educational continuity while maintenance work is conducted at these institutions.
