EVIQ and Apsco Partner to Expand Electric Vehicle Charging Network in Saudi Arabia

EVIQ and Apsco Partner to Expand Electric Vehicle Charging Network in Saudi Arabia

Public Investment Fund-backed EVIQ teams up with Arabian Petroleum Supply Co. to deploy fast-charging stations nationwide.
Electric vehicle charging infrastructure in Saudi Arabia is set for improvement as Public Investment Fund (PIF)-backed EVIQ collaborates with Arabian Petroleum Supply Co. (Apsco) to introduce fast-charging stations across the country.

The partnership will combine EVIQ's advanced charging technologies with Apsco's extensive network of service stations, focusing on high-traffic highways, urban centers, and key stations to enhance accessibility for electric vehicle drivers.

According to a press release, EVIQ aims to install over 5,000 fast chargers by 2030 in alignment with the Kingdom's goal of electrifying 30 percent of vehicles in Riyadh by the same year and achieving net-zero emissions by 2060.

This project builds upon EVIQ’s previous agreement with international chauffeur service Blacklane to expand the electric vehicle network in major cities.

Mohammad Bakr Gazzaz, CEO of EVIQ, emphasized that this collaboration marks another significant step towards creating a seamless, accessible, and sustainable charging ecosystem for electric vehicles across Saudi Arabia.

EVIQ is a joint venture between PIF and Saudi Electricity Co., dedicated to developing a nationwide fast-charging network and operating state-of-the-art research and development facilities in Riyadh.

Apsco, a national energy provider with over 65 years of experience, offers fuels, lubricants, and energy solutions across automotive, aviation, and industrial sectors.

Azzam Qari, CEO at Apsco, stated that by joining forces with EVIQ, they are supporting the infrastructure necessary for the future of electric transportation, providing customers with reliable and accessible charging options throughout the Kingdom.

Saudi Arabia is actively building a comprehensive electric vehicle ecosystem.

The Public Investment Fund is an investor in US-based EV maker Lucid and is also developing its homegrown brand Ceer, which plans to launch its first models in 2026.

Recently, Jeddah's electric vehicle network was bolstered by the city’s transport authority signing a memorandum of understanding with Petromin Co. to establish new charging stations in Saudi Arabia’s second-largest city.

The agreement involves collaboration between Jeddah Transport Co. and Electromin — Petromin's mobility subsidiary — for site assessments, design, installation, and operational support.

With global projections suggesting that eco-friendly vehicles could represent 50 percent of car sales by 2035, Saudi Arabia's electrification efforts are crucial in shaping the future landscape of mobility.
