Egypt’s FM following issue of detained Doctor in Saudi Arabia: Doctors Syndicate

Member of the Council of Doctors Syndicate Mostafa Hashim said that the Egyptian ministry of foreign affairs is following the case of Egyptian doctor detained in Saudi Arabia, in a statement on Wednesday.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported that it had discussed with the Consulate General in Jeddah the complaint of another doctor who had financial issues with his medical center.

Member of the Council of Doctors Syndicate Mostafa Hashim said that the Egyptian ministry of foreign affairs is following the case of Egyptian doctor detained in Saudi Arabia, in a statement on Wednesday.

He explained that the Assistant Foreign Minister for Consular Affairs and Egyptians Abroad, Salah El-Din Abdel-Sadek, regarding the distress the Syndicate received from an Egyptian doctor working in Saudi Arabia, a diagnostic x-ray in a hospital in Jeddah, about his arrest and detention at police station due to complaints of some of his work mates at the hospital.

He confirmed that Ambassador Abdel-Sadiq confirmed that the Egyptian Consulate addressed the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Makkah Al-Mukarramah Branch, about the complaint.

He continued, “On the other hand, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported that it had discussed with the Consulate General in Jeddah the complaint of another doctor who had submitted a complaint to the Doctors Syndicate requesting assistance to obtain his financial dues at one of the private medical centers in Madinah.”

He explained that he asked the syndicate for some detailed data on the subject of the complaint, which it submitted and will follow up on the results of the efforts of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

For his part, the Head of the Doctors Syndicate, Hussein Khairy, expressed his thanks and appreciation to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Assistant Foreign Minister for Consular Affairs and Egyptians abroad for their constant communication and continuous cooperation with the Medical Syndicate.

Khairy stressed that the Syndicate seeks in various ways to improve the conditions of doctors inside Egypt and advance the medical profession. In parallel, following up on the conditions of Egyptian doctors abroad and examining their demands is one of the duties of the Syndicate.
