Tras aumento de casos de la Covid-19, el Rt nacional sube a 1.04

After increasing cases of Covid-19, Rt rises to 1.04 in Panama

The director of the Metropolitan Health Region, Israel Cedeño, reported this Wednesday, November 4, that the Rt of Covid-19 cases for this week registered a slight increase and is at 1.04.
Last week an Rt (effective reproductive number of cases) of 0.92 was reported.

Cedeño, who weekly explains the progress of the virus at the national level, stressed that this average is the reflection of a slight increase in cases in some Health regions. He recalled that in recent days there are daily reports of more than 800 cases, 700 and others that drops to 600.

If you have noticed, we have not yet managed to have less than 500 [cases] per day, Cedeño said in an interview with state television Sertv .

So, when we have these increases, even if they are slight in the incidence of cases, the Rt will increase because it is a reflection of what has happened before. For this week a Rt of 1.04 has been calculated at the national level.

On the other hand, the Cedeño referred to the forecasts of a rebound in cases between the end of November and the beginning of December, highlighting that they expect sanitary standards to continue to be met.

The most basic, mainly the use of masks, distancing and alcoholic gel to avoid that when that second wave or rebound of cases occurs it does not have a very severe impact on the Health system.

The official reiterated that daily operations are maintained in places where the greatest concentration of people is expected, such as beaches, shopping centers and restaurants, to verify that prevention measures are being complied with.

According to the report from yesterday, Tuesday, Panama registered 113,379 recovered patients and a cumulative total of cases of 135,592. With the 11 new deaths reported yesterday, they total 2,731.
