10 Arrested in Jazan for Qat Smuggling; Hashish Seizure in Al-Aridhah
Ethiopian nationals detained after 200 kg of qat discovered during Border Guard operation, while hashish seizure thwarted in Eastern Province.
JAZAN: The Saudi Border Guard's land patrols in the Al-Dayer area of Jazan Province have led to the arrest of 10 Ethiopian individuals for attempting to smuggle approximately 200 kg of qat, a controlled substance.
Following their apprehension, initial legal proceedings were swiftly concluded against these offenders.In addition to the qat seizure, authorities successfully intercepted an attempt to smuggle 11 kg of hashish in Al-Aridhah Governorate within Jazan.
The confiscated narcotics were then transferred to the relevant authorities for further action.Elsewhere, in Eastern Province, a resident of Egyptian nationality was apprehended and detained after being found to have promoted the use of hashish.
Legal measures were taken against him, and he has since been referred to the appropriate authorities.To combat drug trafficking and smuggling within the Kingdom, security agencies encourage citizens and residents to report any relevant information.
