Tech Firms Warn of 'Scattered Spider' Hacking Group's Focus on Aviation Sector
Google and Palo Alto Networks sound the alarm over hacking group targeting airlines and transportation sector.
Tech companies Google and Palo Alto Networks have raised concerns about the increasing interest of the 'Scattered Spider' hacking group in the aviation industry.
According to executives from both firms, there have been multiple incidents in the airline and transportation sector that resemble the operations of UNC3944 or Scattered Spider.
Although no specific companies were named, recent reports from Hawaiian Airlines and WestJet suggest a possible link to these incidents.
The loose-knit hacking group, allegedly composed of individuals operating in Western countries, has been responsible for some of the most disruptive hacks in the US and Europe in recent years.
Past targets include gaming companies, British retailers, and the US insurance industry.
