Under KSA’s chairmanship, UNOCHA donor group holds 5th meeting in Geneva
United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UNOCHA) donor group held Fiday its 5th meeting at the expert level in Geneva, Switzerland, chaired by KSA, the head of the UNOCHA.
The Kingdom was represented by Assistant Supervisor General of the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) for Planning and Development Dr. Aqeel Bin Jamaan Al-Ghamdi, and in the presence of representatives of 30 member states.
The meeting’s agenda included the reform of the humanitarian program cycle, which includes the strategic plan, the initiative of the Humanitarian Coordinator, and the inter-sectoral humanitarian analysis framework.
The meeting also covered the field visit of the donor group to South Sudan, which took place in March 2023. These topics are within the plan of Saudi Arabia’s presidency of the donor group.
Donor countries, during the meeting, stressed the importance of reforming the humanitarian program cycle and for OCHA to make the necessary arrangements for the reform process with the participation of all actors in humanitarian work and the participation of local groups targeted by humanitarian aid.
This meeting represents the fifth meeting held under the Kingdom’s presidency of the donor group for 2022-2023.
