The Israeli UN representative, Gilad Erdan, expressed shock and disgust after learning that the Israeli army would be included in the UN's annual "Children and Armed Conflict" report for failing to protect children during war.
Erdan strongly denied the allegation, stating that the Israeli army is the most moral in the world.
The report, which has not been published yet, includes countries that do not take sufficient measures to shield children from conflict.
Gaza is currently experiencing a war between Hamas and Israel, which began after Hamas's attack on Israel in October 2020 resulted in the deaths of over 1,100 civilians, according to Israeli official figures.
In response, Israel launched a retaliatory offensive, resulting in over 36,000 deaths and injuries, mostly civilians, according to Gaza's health ministry.
The situation in Gaza has worsened due to Israel's delay of aid entry, leaving the territory's 2.4 million residents without clean water, food, medicines, and fuel.
Israeli Secretary-General is currently the only one blacklisted, and Hamas is using schools and hospitals as a result of this decision, according to Israeli Minister Erdan.
Last week, the World Health Organization reported that over 80% of children in 72 hours went without eating for a whole day.
In Gaza alone, at least 32 people, mostly children, have died due to malnutrition since the war began.
The UN's Secretary-General,
António Guterres, is expected to publish a report on human rights violations against children in around 20 conflict zones by the end of June.
Israel is among the countries under scrutiny due to concerns over human rights violations against children, following warnings from rights groups and the UN.
Russia was previously included in the report for its military and armed entities' actions.
