UN Expresses Concern Over West Bank Violence and Unlawful Restrictions on Gaza Humanitarian Aid
The United Nations (UN) expressed grave concern over the escalating violence in the West Bank on April 16, 2024.
Ravina Shamdasani, spokeswoman for the UN rights office, addressed reporters in Geneva, demanding that Israeli security forces immediately cease their involvement in and support for settler attacks against Palestinians in the region.
Shamdasani emphasized that Israeli authorities must take action to prevent further attacks and bring those responsible to account.
She also highlighted the ongoing unlawful restrictions imposed by Israel on humanitarian relief for the Gaza Strip.
At a press briefing in Geneva, Shamdasani, speaking as spokesperson for the UN human rights office, stated that Israel continues to impose unlawful restrictions on the entry and distribution of humanitarian assistance to Gaza.
Furthermore, she noted that Israel carries out widespread destruction of civilian infrastructure in the area, which is a violation of international law.
