U.S. Pressure Mounts on Israel Over Humanitarian Aid to Gaza; Iraq Elects New Speaker Amid Turmoil; Ethiopia Asserts Peaceful Stance on Somaliland Dispute; Turkiye Strengthens African Ties; Sports and Culture Highlights from Saudi Arabia

U.S. urges Israel to boost humanitarian aid to Gaza amid escalating famine concerns, while Iraq's parliament ends political impasse by electing new speaker.
Israel is encountering U.S. pressure as it falls short of meeting an ultimatum to increase humanitarian aid to Gaza, allowing only an average of 71 trucks instead of the demanded 350 daily, escalating fears of severe famine amid the ongoing conflict and invoking warnings from international organizations about dire conditions.

Meanwhile, Iraq's parliament has broken a nearly yearlong deadlock by electing Mahmoud Al-Mashhadani as the new speaker, who now faces the daunting tasks of addressing economic reforms and legislative controversies after succeeding Mohammed Al-Halbousi, dismissed amid forgery allegations.

In Ethiopia, Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed emphasized his disinterest in military conflict over a controversial Somaliland coastline agreement, despite Somalia's objections and expulsion of Ethiopia's ambassador, asserting the deal is for development and maritime access, while standing prepared to defend if necessary.

As Turkiye extends its influence in Africa through strategic defense and trade initiatives, Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan will participate in a meeting with African nations highlighting Turkiye's role as a mediator and security partner, a contrast to the tensions between Ethiopia and Somalia.

In sports, Al Hilal maintained their unbeaten streak in the Roshn Saudi League with a 1-1 draw against Al Nassr in the Riyadh Derby, keeping a narrow lead over Al Ittihad, as both teams showcased their tenacity in this thrilling encounter.

Finally, 80-year-old Saeed bin Saleh is bridging cultures by offering English-speaking tours in Najran, Saudi Arabia, drawing from his rich career experience to introduce foreign visitors to the region's ancient archaeological wonders and vibrant cultural heritage.
