Saudi Arabia has executed journalist Turki al‑Jasser after seven years in detention, marking the kingdom’s first execution of a journalist under Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

Al‑Jasser was convicted on charges including treason and terrorism linked to his critical social media posts.

Rights groups, including Reporters Without Borders and the Committee to Protect Journalists, condemned the killing, citing evidence of torture and a secretive trial, and warning that this act intensifies an ongoing crackdown on dissent.
