Tsuen Wan lockdown declared for Dubai case
A lockdown for Bo Shek Mansion Block 1 in Tsuen Wan has been declared in connection to an imported case from Dubai who stayed in Hong Kong during his incubation period.
The lockdown is expected to finish at about 7am tomorrow.
The imported case involves a 56-year-old man who lives in the building. He traveled to Dubai on August 15 and returned on August 18 on flight EK384.
His pre-departure test conducted in Hong Kong on August 14, as well as a specimen collected upon arrival at Hong Kong International Airport, both came back negative.
However, he tested positive for the L452R mutant strain while at a designated quarantine hotel on August 20.
The patient received two doses of Sinovac jabs on March 20 and May 1 in Hong Kong, and his blood specimen tested positive for antibodies on July 12. An epidemiological investigation and contact tracing of the case will be conducted.
"As a confirmed case arriving from Dubai was detected today and the test result involved a mutant strain, and the patient has lived in the above mentioned building within the past 21 days, the risk of infection in the relevant area is assessed to be likely higher," a government spokesman said.
The government will set up temporary specimen collection stations at the restricted area and people subject to compulsory testing are required to undergo testing VIA combined nasal and throat swabs before 12am tomorrow.
