Estados Unidos supera los 5 millones de casos de coronavirus en medio de polémica por decisiones del presidente Trump

The United States exceeds 5 million cases of coronavirus amid controversy over President Trump's decisions

The coronavirus surpassed 5 million cases in the United States on Sunday 9 August, where President Donald Trump is accused of flouting the Constitution by unilaterally extending an economic aid package for Americans affected by the pandemic.
The world's leading power, which reached 5 million cases and 162,000 deaths on Sunday morning, is by far the most affected country in absolute terms in the world, followed by Brazil, which on Saturday reached 100,000 deaths, Mexico (52,000), United Kingdom (46,000) and India (43,000).

In Washington, President Trump has come under strong criticism, after he announced on Saturday the signing of executive orders to issue an economic aid package for Americans affected by lockdown during the pandemic.

Trump enacted those decrees in the absence of an agreement in Congress between his Republican Party and the Democratic opposition.

The measure is absurdly unconstitutional, Democrat and Congressional Leader Nancy Pelosi told CNN, while Chuck Schumer, who leads the Democratic minority in the Senate, dismissed Trump's announcement considering those decrees to be unfeasible, weak and too narrow.

The four executive orders that Trump signed Saturday at his golf club in Bedminster, New Jersey, will provide some temporary unemployment benefits and seek to prevent the eviction of people for non-payment on the rent of their homes, among other things.

Trump's response and handling of the pandemic has been reflected in the polls, and many believe that the president is willing to show his decision-making capacity before the November 3 elections, in which he could lose the position.
