The Palestinian ambassador to Nicaragua violently beat a worker at the embassy and was expelled from the country
Nicaragua has in recent days expelled the Palestinian ambassador from its territory after declaring him persona non grata.
Muhammad Amro who served as ambassador to Nicaragua has returned to Ramallah in recent days after authorities deported him.
The background to the deportation is that Ambassador Amro hit an employee inside the embassy on April 28, chased her and forcibly dragged her outside the embassy.
The policewoman who was guarding outside the embassy filed a complaint with the authorities and reported that she saw the worker being dragged while hearing crying and screaming.
Nicaragua's Foreign Ministry has contacted the Palestinian Authority and the Palestinian’s Foreign Ministry several times but has not received any response or comment on the issue so it has declared the ambassador a persona non grata.
The Palestinian Authority has tried to whitewash the incident and is now working to bring the violent ambassador back to Nicaragua without damaging relations between the Palestinian Authority and Nicaragua which is considered a friend of the Palestinians.
