Talented Saudi student winners at ISEF 2023 arrive in Saudi Arabia

The talented students of the Saudi Team for Science and Engineering who won 27 prizes at the Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF 2023) arrived on Sunday at King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh.
The Saudi team, upon arriving in Saudi Arabia, were given a warm welcome by several officials.

Faisal Al-Dawish, chairman of the board of directors of the King Abdulaziz and His Companions Foundation for Giftedness and Creativity (Mawhiba), Secretary General of Mawhiba Dr. Amal Bint Abdullah Al-Hazzaa, and the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education, Dr. Mohammad Al-Muqbel were present.

The 35 members of the Saudi team arrived in the Kingdom after participating at ISEF 2023, that concluded in the United States of America on Friday.

The team achieved 27 prizes, of which 23 were major prizes, 4 special prizes while competing with more than 1,800 students from more than 70 countries around the world.

As for the details of the prizes, the team won two prizes in the first place in the major prizes, 7 prizes in the second place, 7 prizes in the third place, in addition to 7 prizes in the fourth place.

With this achievement, Saudi Arabia's special prizes at the ISEF 2023 exhibition rose to 133 prizes, including 92 major prizes, and 41 special prizes, as its participation in the exhibition began in 2007.

Speaking to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), Dr. Al-Hazzaa stated that Saudi Arabia has achieved the second place in the world with 23 major prizes, which comes within the support of the Kingdom's leadership, and the strategic partnership between Mawhiba and the Education Ministry.

She also said that this resulted following the efforts of incubating and supporting bodies such as universities, research centers, entities, companies, parents, and male and female teachers.

The Saudi talented students are the pillars of the Kingdom's Vision 2030, and also represent Saudi Arabia in the international major ceremonies, in order to achieve a vibrant society, a prosperous economy and an ambitious nation, Dr. Al-Hazzaa noted.

It is noteworthy that the Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF) is considered the biggest fair for competing in the field of scientific research and innovation for the pre-university level.
