Türkiye and Saudi Arabia Elevate Strategic Partnership with Renewables, Trade and Defence Cooperation

President Erdoğan’s Saudi visit yields solar energy deals and ambitious bilateral trade and security commitments as ties deepen
Türkiye and Saudi Arabia have consolidated their bilateral relationship with a series of high-profile agreements and joint statements following Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s official visit to Riyadh, reflecting a significant expansion of cooperation across economic, energy and security sectors.

Erdoğan met Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman at Al Yamamah Palace, where both leaders agreed on strategic initiatives aimed at strengthening ties between the two regional powers.

The two nations signed a comprehensive pact on renewable energy projects that will see the development of solar power plants in Türkiye with a total capacity of five thousand megawatts.

The first phase of the plan, backed by an estimated two billion dollars of investment, is expected to generate electricity for more than two million Turkish households under long-term purchasing agreements, signalling a deep commitment to energy diversification and green technology cooperation.

At the Saudi Arabia-Türkiye Investment Forum, officials outlined ambitious targets to boost bilateral trade to ten billion dollars in the short term and up to thirty billion dollars over the longer term.

The forum brought together hundreds of business leaders and government representatives, highlighting expanding opportunities in construction, tourism, information technology and healthcare as private sector engagement grows.

Saudi investments in Türkiye have already surpassed two billion dollars, focused on construction and real estate, while more than five thousand Turkish companies operate in the Saudi market.

Defence cooperation and regional policy coordination were also elevated in the joint communique, with Ankara and Riyadh agreeing to activate existing frameworks to enhance military collaboration, address terrorism financing and cyber threats, and strengthen multilateral engagement on security matters.

The leaders reaffirmed their commitment to promoting stability in conflict areas and to coordinate within regional and international organisations.

Both presidents underscored the historical depth of diplomatic relations and the mutual benefits of deeper economic and strategic cooperation, while exploring joint infrastructure and clean-energy initiatives under Saudi Vision 2030 and Türkiye’s Century Vision.

The agreements mark a new chapter in Turkish-Saudi relations, anchored in shared economic ambition and coordinated regional engagement.
