Speakers of Shoura Council and Russian Duma emphasize need to strengthen parliamentary cooperation
Shoura Council Speaker Sheikh Abdullah Al-Sheikh and State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin met in Riyadh to discuss bolstering parliamentary links between Saudi Arabia and Russia.
They emphasized the value of such cooperation for mutual benefits and strengthening ties through official visits.
Al-Sheikh explained the Shoura Council's functions, its role in international forums, and its contributions to enhancing Saudi Arabia's global standing. Volodin highlighted the strong ties between the two nations and advocated for further development of parliamentary relations.
The visit included a session at the Shoura Council, tours of its facilities, and a banquet held by Al-Sheikh for the Russian delegation.
Notable attendees were deputy and assistant speakers of the Shoura Council, the Saudi Ambassador to Russia, and members of the Saudi-Russian Parliamentary Friendship Committee, alongside their counterparts from the Russian Duma, including its International Affairs Committee Chairman and the Russian Ambassador to Saudi Arabia.
