Saudis spend nearly 90% more in restaurants and cafes in 2021
Saudi Arabia’s food and beverage sector recorded sales of 41.79 billion riyals during the first seven months of this year, compared to 35.44 billion riyals during the same period of the previous year, a growth of 18 per cent, Saudi Central Bank data showed.
The restaurants and cafes sector achieved the highest growth rate, with its proceeds increasing 89 per cent during the first seven months of this year, compared to the same period of the previous year. Sales from the beginning of this year amounted to 33.95 billion riyals, compared to 18 billion riyals last year.
Revenues of the telecommunications sector have doubled since the beginning of the year, reaching 2.84 billion riyals during the first seven months of this year, compared to 1.42 billion riyals during the same period of the previous year.
Revenues of the entertainment and culture sector grew for the fifth year in a row, totalling 8.1 billion riyals from the beginning of this year until the end of July, compared to 6.61 billion riyals during the same period last year.
