Saudis Design and Produce Advanced Electronic Chips at KACST
King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology achieves milestone in supporting semiconductor ecosystem.
Riyadh, July 24, 2025 - King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology (KACST) has successfully designed and manufactured 25 advanced electronic chips.
These chips were developed by Saudi researchers and students in laboratories for training, research, and development purposes.
This accomplishment is part of KACST's efforts to bolster the semiconductor ecosystem within the Kingdom.The newly developed chips are versatile, with potential applications across various sectors such as electronics, wireless communications, high-frequency communications, integrated circuits, energy-efficient lighting, and miniaturized sensing systems.
They also have industrial and research uses in measurement and testing.The chip design process involved collaboration between researchers from KACST's national laboratory and students from four Saudi universities.
This initiative is a key component of the Saudi Semiconductors Program, aimed at qualifying national talent in this crucial field.KACST's achievements in developing these electronic chips represent significant progress towards self-reliance in advanced technologies.
