Saudi Students Excel in Global Science Competition
Saudi Arabian students were triumphant at the 2023 International Junior Science Olympiad, winning three awards while competing with participants from 55 countries. The event was hosted in Bangkok, Thailand, from December 1-10.
Saudi representation included the King Abdulaziz and his Companions Foundation for Giftedness and Creativity (Mawhiba), along with the Ministry of Education.
Hussein Habib Al-Saleh secured a silver medal, and both Suha Suleiman Al-Salama and Reda Emad Al-Khalaf earned bronze medals, contributing to the Saudi science team's impressive haul of 30 medals overall, which includes one gold, six silver, and 23 bronze.
On a social media post, Mawhiba celebrated the accomplishments: "Our Saudi team has won three awards at #IJSO2023 in Thailand, with participation from 304 students across 55 countries. Kudos to our kingdom, students, and our strategic partner, the Ministry of Education."
The Saudi competitors prepared extensively at Mawhiba, under the guidance of top national and international trainers.
Amal Al-Hazzaa, secretary-general of Mawhiba, commended the students and expressed gratitude to the Ministry of Education, the students' families, schools, and teachers for their encouragement. She remarked that Mawhiba is dedicated to nurturing exceptionally talented Saudi students to excel internationally in science and technology, focusing on the nation's strategic interests.
