Saudi Rally Driver Maha Al Hamali Injured in Dakar Rally 2024 Incident
Saudi rally driver Maha Al Hamali was injured in a rollover crash during the Dakar Rally 2024's sixth stage, causing her to exit the competition hosted in Saudi Arabia for the fifth time.
From her hospital bed, Al Hamali recounted the accident and the aerial evacuation that saved her, and reassured fans of her condition, sporting a neck brace.
Saudi Motorsport Federation President Prince Khalid Bin Sultan Al Abdullah Al Faisal visited her post-accident.
Al Hamali revealed on Instagram that the crash occurred near the sixth stage's finish line. She was rescued from her vehicle by fellow Saudi racer Hani Al Namsi before medics arrived.
She is currently recovering from non-critical injuries at Riyadh's National Guard Hospital, expressing gratitude to those who assisted her.
Social media posts show her extensively damaged car and the arriving helicopter for her medical evacuation.
