Saudi Ministry of Interior Launches Digital Identity Service and Special Passport Stamp for Hajj Pilgrims
The Saudi Ministry of Interior has launched a digital identity service for international pilgrims with Hajj visas for this year's season.
The service, developed in cooperation with the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Hajj and Umrah, and the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority, allows pilgrims to prove their identity electronically through the Absher and Tawakkalna platforms.
This is part of the Saudi government's efforts to digitally transform services and enhance the pilgrims' experience in accordance with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030.
The Saudi Arabian Ministry of Hajj and Umrah launched the Makkah Route Initiative to enhance services for pilgrims and keep up with digital transformation.
A special passport stamp with the initiative's logo was introduced, available at designated lounges in 11 airports across Morocco, Indonesia, Malaysia, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Turkiye, and Cote d'Ivoire.
The Makkah Route Initiative is part of the ministry's efforts to improve the pilgrimage experience.
