Saudi Fund Secures $100 Million Loan Deal to Support Hydropower Energy Project in Tajikistan
The Saudi Fund for Development (SFD) has secured a $100 million loan to finance Tajikistan's Rogun Hydropower Project, providing a significant boost to the nation's renewable energy capacity and economic growth. This strategic partnership was formalized through an agreement between SFD CEO Sultan Al-Marshad and Tajik Finance Minister Fayziddin Sattor, witnessed by dignitaries from both countries.
The loan will enhance Tajikistan's energy production by 3,600 megawatts, improve electricity access, supply desalinated drinking water, and address climate change impacts. It underscores SFD's commitment to backing development, creating jobs, and fostering international cooperation for sustainable progress.
This financial support builds upon SFD's two-decade-long assistance to Tajikistan, surpassing $293 million for numerous social infrastructure projects. Since 1975, SFD has financed over 800 initiatives in over 100 countries, totaling more than $20 billion, affirming its pivotal role in global development efforts.
