Saudi Culture Ministry concludes Ramadan festivities
Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Culture concluded this year’s Ramadan festivities, which included a range of cultural, social, sports, and creative activities and events.
The season had activities inspired by Saudi culture closely related to the spirituality of the month of fasting, most notably the Bab Al-Balad activities in Historic Jeddah, which was filled with Ramadan decorations and a model of the Ramadan cannon.
There was a mesaharaty who awakens the people for sahoor, in addition to various activities that included the Saudi coffee corner, artisan shops, food carts and cafes, sweets shops, interactive painting murals, and a competition for memorizing the Holy Qur’an.
It also included the “My Vision of My Country” activity, which witnessed the establishment of exhibitions specialized in the Holy Qur’an, the restoration of historical mosques, old stamps, and coins, and the history of Jeddah, in addition to a calligraphy workshop.
The Ramadan Tent Area event was one of the most prominent activities of the season held in Historic Jeddah, including the main Ramadan tent, Ahl Awal cinema, food carts, roaming characters, and puppet shows.
The Country Center event was also held in Historic Jeddah, which included several sites dedicated to folk games, painters, craftsmen, gourmets, and lightings, in addition to the Ramadan Stories activity, and the Bisat Al-Reeh Exhibition.
Furthermore, the Ramadan Volleyball Competition was organized in cooperation with the Ministry of Sports and the Saudi Arabian Volleyball Federation, with the opportunity to enjoy a visit to the Islamic Arts Biennale to explore the artistic cultural diversity of the Islamic world, which is hosted by the western Hajj Terminal at King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah.
The Ramadan season in Riyadh presented various activities that varied between culture, sports, art, and community interaction, through a series of events, the most prominent of which was the Ramadan Tent event that was set up on King Fahd Road opposite the King Abdullah Financial District, which provided iftar and sahoor experiences throughout the month, served by the most skilled chefs, in addition to various other activities.
The Qarqe’an event was also held in Riyadh, along with its accompanying songs and craft performances, in various locations, including the Ramadan Tent. As for the Ramadan Alley activity, it was held in Al-Nada Park and Al-Hizam Park, to celebrate the memories of Ramadan in the old popular alleys.
The season’s activities included the celebration of World Heritage Day at the King Abdulaziz Historical Center in Riyadh, as well as the Little Explorer event, to enhance children’s contribution to the protection and preservation of heritage.
The Taleed event under the slogan “Inherited Art, Discover and Learn” was held at the Riyadh Front and offered an interactive space that hosted several dialogue sessions and workshops to discover the history of traditional arts.
In terms of sports activities in Riyadh in addition to the Ramadan Volleyball Competition, the QF Ramadan Badminton Tournament and the Ramadan Gaming Championship were organized in cooperation with the Ministry of Sports and local sports federations.
The Ramadan festivities reflected authentic Saudi culture and the distinctive customs of Saudi society during this blessed month, with the aim of highlighting and reviving cultural heritage, introducing various local cultures, and strengthening Ramadan customs.
