Saudi crown prince meets with Ukraine president in Riyadh
On Tuesday in Riyadh, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
They reviewed bilateral relations and discussed the ongoing conflict between Ukraine and Russia, as reported by the Saudi Press Agency. The crown prince expressed support for international efforts to resolve the crisis peacefully and to address the humanitarian impact of the war.
On a social media platform, President Zelensky mentioned plans to talk with the crown prince about prisoner swaps and the deportation issue, hinting at Saudi Arabia's prior role in facilitating the release of captives. He expressed optimism about achieving results from the meeting.
Previously, the crown prince played a key role in the release of 10 foreign detainees in Ukraine, which precipitated a significant exchange of prisoners between Russia and Ukraine in September 2022.
President Zelensky also indicated he would seek discussions on economic collaboration and Saudi Arabia's potential participation in rebuilding Ukraine.
President Zelensky departed from Riyadh on Tuesday evening, with Riyadh's Deputy Governor Prince Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Abdulaziz seeing him off.
