Saudi Cabinet calls for extending arms embargo on Iran

Saudi Arabia’s Cabinet, chaired by Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman, reiterated on Tuesday the Kingdom’s call urging the international community to extend the arms embargo on Iran.
The Cabinet said the lifting of the arms embargo on Iran will lead to more destruction, and it will further fuel the conflicts in the region, which has been suffering as a result of the Iranian interference. It pledged the Kingdom’s support for all international measures that contribute to stopping Iran’s subversion in the region.

At the outset of the session, King Salman thanked the leaders of Arab, Islamic and friendly countries who expressed their wishes for his health and citizens for their prayers and good wishes for the success of his surgery and a speedy recovery. The Cabinet members also congratulated the King and on this occasion and wished him good health.

The Cabinet praised the preventive health measures undertaken during this year's Hajj and that the decision to reduce the number of pilgrims that drew praise and appreciation from all quarters.

In a statement to the Saudi Press Agency, Minister of State and Acting Minister of Media Dr. Issam Bin Saad Bin Saeid stated that the Cabinet reviewed a number of reports related to the Coronavirus pandemic and its developments at the preventive and therapeutic levels.

The Cabinet also reviewed the latest statistics of cases recorded in the Kingdom as well as the health care being provided to the infected.

The Cabinet praised the directives of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques to stand by the brothers in Lebanon by offering them aid and assistance after the Beirut port blast through the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSrelief).

The Cabinet reviewed a number of issues and developments of events on the regional and international arenas. The Cabinet also referred to the contents of the final communiqué and the declaration of Partners for Sustainable Peace in Sudan, which was issued by the eighth meeting of the Friends of Sudan that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia hosted via video conference.

The Cabinet also reiterated the Kingdom's keenness to complete its efforts to achieve security, stability, peace-making, and development in Yemen.

The Cabinet touched on the joint statement issued by the energy ministers of Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Bahrain, Oman and Iraq after they reviewed the recent developments in the global oil markets and their full commitment to the OPEC Plus agreement.

The Cabinet also reviewed topics on its agenda, including some being co-studied by the Shoura Council.
