Saudi Arabia Unveils New National Curriculum Center
Saudi Education Minister Yousef Al-Benyan announced the inauguration of the National Curriculum Center during the Human Capabilities Initiative conference in Riyadh.
Approved by the Council of Ministers as an independent entity, the center aims to streamline educational goals across government sectors through unified curricula.
Focusing on modernizing curriculum governance, the center will collaborate with cultural, sports, and human rights sectors in its decision-making processes.
Emphasizing global competence, the center plans to partner with international experts, leverage digital tools, and concentrate on skill development relevant to new generations.
The center's operational strategy includes clear delineation of roles for the parties involved in curricular development and updates. It will also ensure coherence between education levels to align with market demands and remain adaptable to ongoing changes via continuous curriculum refreshment.
Governed by a board of directors who set policies and standards, the center will also rely on advisory committees for technical support. Its functions encompass establishing curricular standards, overseeing educational materials, catering to special education needs, and fostering research and innovation in curriculum design.
Key responsibilities of the center involve ensuring educational content quality at the K-12 level, developing national curriculum strategies, and coordinating the national curriculum framework with educational authorities.
