Saudi Arabia Transfers $90 Million to Palestinian Authority in Emergency Aid Boost
Funds delivered as Riyadh leads new international coalition to shore up Palestinian finances amid Gaza crisis
Saudi Arabia on Monday transferred ninety million US dollars to the Palestinian Authority (PA), a senior financial official confirmed during a ceremony held at the Saudi embassy in Amman.
The funds were handed over by the Saudi ambassador and non-resident envoy to Palestine, Prince Mansour bin Khalid bin Farhan Al-Saud, to acting finance minister Estephan Salameh — part of an emergency funding pledge made earlier by Riyadh.
The contribution comes from a newly formed international coalition announced by Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan during the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly, under which the Kingdom committed to provide immediate financial support to the PA. The move aims to alleviate a critical fiscal crisis facing Palestinian governing institutions, especially as the PA struggles to meet public-sector salaries and fund essential services.
Saudi officials emphasise that the aid reflects the Kingdom’s long-standing support for Palestinian rights and its commitment, alongside international partners, to advance a viable two-state solution.
Prince Mansour reiterated that the delivery is part of Saudi leadership’s broader pledge to ensure the resilience of the Palestinian people and to help maintain stability in health, education, and basic administration.
The transfer follows earlier aid deliveries from Saudi Arabia — including a $30 million grant in June — bringing total pledged support in recent months to substantial levels.
Observers note that the emergency coalition seeks not only to address immediate humanitarian and fiscal needs, but also to reinforce the legitimacy and operational capacity of Palestinian institutions during a period of regional and international volatility.
With funds now in hand, the PA faces the challenge of allocating them effectively to restore public services and support vulnerable communities — a test both of institutional capacity and of the broader international commitment to Palestinian governance and stability.
