Saudi Arabia Submits Registration Dossier for Expo 2030 in Riyadh
The Kingdom's formal application marks the initiation of preparations for the global event, following its successful bid to host Expo 2030.
Saudi Arabia has formally submitted its registration dossier to the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE) to host World Expo 2030 in Riyadh.
The Saudi ambassador to France, Fahd bin Mayouf Al-Ruwaili, presented the dossier to BIE Secretary General Dimitri Kerkentzes, as reported by the Saudi Press Agency on Friday.
Kerkentzes acknowledged the comprehensive organizational vision surrounding the Expo 2030 Riyadh initiative, stating that the plan demonstrates the Kingdom's commitment and the considerable efforts being made to prepare for the international event.
He emphasized the importance of close cooperation with BIE to ensure the event's success.
In November 2023, at a BIE meeting, Saudi Arabia was selected as the host nation for Expo 2030 after receiving 119 out of 165 votes in a secret ballot, surpassing rival bids from South Korea and Italy.
The submitted dossier signifies the commencement of preparations for the Expo, comprising a detailed plan that addresses all organizational, operational, and procedural elements of the event.
The document outlines key aspects, including the legislative, regulatory, and financial frameworks required for successful hosting.
Additionally, it includes the master plan for the Expo site, criteria for international participation, and strategies for leveraging the exhibition's legacy.
The BIE will review the submission before it is officially adopted at the organization's upcoming general assembly.
Upon approval, Saudi Arabia will proceed with the practical preparations and officially extend invitations for international participation through established diplomatic channels.
