Saudi Arabia's Riyadh Airport Introduces Biometric E-Passport Gates for Seamless Travel
The General Directorate of Passports (Jawazat) introduced biometric e-passport scanners at King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh during a ceremony attended by Saudi Data & AI Authority President Abdullah Alghamdi, GACA President Abdulaziz Al-Duailej, Jawazat Director General Lt. Gen. Sulaiman Al-Yahya, and National Information Center Director Esam Alwagait.
This initiative marks the first airport in Saudi Arabia to offer e-passport gates, which aim to streamline travel procedures and provide a seamless experience for international travelers, allowing them to complete procedures independently without human intervention.
The Jawazat and GACA chiefs announced the rollout of e-gates for travelers with biometric passports.
This initiative aims to save time and effort and is part of efforts to enhance travel procedures and introduce smart, digital solutions.
The self-service passport launch is a significant step towards improving the travel experience and aligning with international standards, contributing to the goals of the National Aviation Strategy and Saudi Vision 2030.
