Saudi Arabia: One dead as boulder hits folk band’s minibus
Vehicle catches fire after freak accident in Al Raith in south of Kingdom
One man died and five people suffered first degree burns when a rock fell from a mountain and hit a folk band’s minibus in Al Raith, southern Saudi Arabia, local media reported.
The bus burst into flames after the fuel tank exploded due to the impact of the boulder. The victim was in his 20s.
Witnesses told Al Watan newspaper that the bus carried a folk band from the village of Abu Hajar and the Abu Arish governorate, who were heading to Jabal Al Qahr in Al Raith, to celebrate a wedding.
The witness was with the deceased before he went with his colleagues to the wedding.
Civil Defence and Red Crescent teams extracted the body and took the injured to hospital.
