Saudi Arabia Dismantles Three Drug Trafficking Gangs, 19 Arrested
Authorities arrest 19 individuals linked to drug smuggling networks, including employees from various government ministries.
The Saudi Interior Ministry announced on February 9, 2025, the dismantling of three criminal networks involved in drug smuggling and trafficking, operating in the regions of Asir, Jazan, and the Eastern Province.
An official source reported that these networks were engaged in transferring illicit substances to other areas of the Kingdom and were also involved in money laundering activities.
A total of 19 individuals associated with these gangs were arrested during the operation.
Among them were five employees of the Ministry of Interior, seven employees of the Zakat, Tax, and Customs Authority, and three employees from the Ministry of Defense.
The Saudi authorities stated that appropriate legal measures have been initiated against those arrested, and the cases have been referred to the Public Prosecution for further action.
The ministry emphasized that the arrests highlight the commitment of security forces to combat criminal activities, especially those targeting the youth with drug-related offenses, reaffirming their vigilance in maintaining public safety.
