Saudi Arabia Celebrates Camelids at Paris Parade: 50 Nations Honor UN's International Year of Camelids (2024)
Saudi Arabia is participating in the third annual Camel Parade in France on Saturday, celebrating the UN's designation of 2024 as the International Year of Camelids.
The event, organized by the French Federation for the Development of Camelids in France and Europe and sponsored by Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Culture and the Kingdom's Camel Club, will feature camels, llamas, alpacas, and other camelid creatures.
Over 50 organizations and individuals from more than 30 countries are expected to attend, including camel breeders, government officials, and entertainers.
The parade aims to promote awareness and appreciation for camelids.
A parade celebrating the cultural significance of camels will take place in Paris, with representatives from various countries including Saudi Arabia, the US, UAE, Qatar, and others participating.
Saudi Arabia will emphasize the historical importance of camels in Saudi society.
Discussions about the global cultural heritage related to camels took place before the parade at the Chateau de Janvry's historical center.
A parade will be held, followed by a reception for invited guests, including representatives from countries, international organizations, academia, research centers, and the private sector.
The UN Food and Agriculture Organization has declared 2024 as the International Year of Camelids to honor and promote the sector and its role in food security and economic growth.
