Israel has vowed to eliminate Yahya Sinwar, the new Hamas chief and alleged mastermind of the October 7 attack, as the Gaza war marks its 11th month.

Sinwar's appointment follows the assassination of his predecessor, Ismael Haniyeh, in Tehran last week.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Foreign Minister Israel Katz have both emphasized the country's commitment to defend itself and eliminate Sinwar.

The U.S. has urged both Iran and Israel to avoid further escalation, while regional tensions continue to rise with Hezbollah promising retaliation.

The conflict has already resulted in significant casualties, including 1,198 Israeli deaths and 39,677 Palestinian deaths, according to official sources.
