Poor visibility hampers vehicular traffic as dust storm envelops Jeddah
The Jeddah governorate and several other parts of the Makkah province continued witnessing dust storm, leading to almost no horizontal visibility on the coastal parts of the region on Tuesday.
Many motorists were forced to discontinue driving due to poor visibility. Jeddah and other parts of the Makkah region had witnessed dust storm on Monday also.
There was an increase in temperatures in Makkah and Jeddah on Tuesday, reaching 37 degree Celsius in Jeddah and 36 degree in Makkah while there was a drop in temperatures in parts of the Northern Border and Al-Jouf regions.
Meanwhile, the National Center of Meteorology (NCM) confirmed in its forecast that medium to heavy thunderstorms, accompanied by dust storm and showers of hail that will lead to torrential rains, will continue in parts of the regions of Makkah, Madinah, Tabuk, Al-Qassim, Hail, Al-Jouf and the Northern Borders region.
According to the NCM forecast, moderate rain will experience in parts of the regions of Najran, Jazan, Asir, Al-Baha, Riyadh and the Eastern Province.
Meanwhile, the Health authorities in Jeddah issued a set of health tips to be complied with in the wake of dust storm. The Ministry of Health stressed that doors and windows shall be closed tightly in order to avoid exposure to dust and to wear air-filtering masks, which shall be changed frequently.
