The first edition of the Kombat Kingdom saw a perfect slate for Bahraini athletes as both Ahmed Amir and young Abdulla Alyaqoob beat their opponents via unanimous decision handing Bahrain two victories in two fights.
Amateur Alyaqoob had a tough match-up in front of him as Umed Urfonov has had an extensive amateur career of his own, and started very well winning the first round from the Bahraini fighter.
However, Alyaqoob came back stronger in the second round and worked on his takedowns and grappling in order to stiffle his opponent’s attacks. He was able to impose his will in the next two rounds, walking away with a unanimous decision victory.
Amir, an established professional fighter, has taken yet another step towards the BRAVE CF title as he dominated Cian Cowley en route to a unanimous decision victory.
The KHK MMA fighter, representing the kingdom, worked hard for his takedowns, and he couldn’t take Cian down in the first round. However, he kept grinding and got his takedown early in the second round, before moving past Cowley and gaining position after position.
Even though the victory through KO or submission didn’t come, he was able to walk away with yet another dominant victory and a call-out for champion of the lightweight division Cleiton ‘Predator’.
