Oman's Sultan Haitham bin Tariq to Visit Iran, Boost Cooperation
Oman's Sultan Haitham bin Tariq will embark on a two-day visit to Iran this week to promote cooperation between Oman and Iran in different spheres.
This visit comes after a Chinese-brokered rapprochement deal between Saudi Arabia and Iran was announced in March 2022.
The visit is also in response to an invitation from the Iranian president, and follows a similar visit by Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi to Muscat in 2021, during which the two countries signed a string of trade deals.
Oman has close ties with Iran and has played a mediating role between Tehran and Washington in the past.
