LuLu’s ‘Flavours of Arabia’ brings alive robust Arabic culinary heritage

LuLu Hypermarkets across the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia will showcase the unique home flavours of 4 Arab countries that are famed for their culinary heritage –Egypt, Morocco, Tunisia,and Jordan. The festival opened today at the LuLu Hypermarket in Riyadh Avenue Mall, Murabba, Riyadh.
Present were the Ambassadors of the four countries: Ali AlKayed - Ambassador of the Kingdom of Jordan; Abdulla Alkhiya - Minister Plenipotentiary, Deputy Head of Mission, Kingdom of Morocco embassy in Kingdom of Saudi Arabia; Ahmed Farouk - Ambassador of Egypt and Hichem Fourati - Ambassador of the Republic of Tunisia. They were welcomed with a Purple Carpet by Mr. Shehim Mohammed, Director of LuLu, Saudi Arabia.

The festival, which will run from February 15th to 24th will celebrate the goodness of regional Arab cuisines. There will be delicacies of these countries prepared in the different Hot Foods sections of LuLu across the Kingdom and a wide range of attractively priced specialty products such as different Egyptian cheeses, Moroccan olives, Jordan’s famed Halava sweet and mixed pickles, nuts coated with local honey and sesame, different types of tea including the popular hibiscus flower variety and exotic biscuit crackers flavoured with thyme, anise and other local herbs, made in popular factories in these countries. There will be a specialty Saudi coffee station and a promotion on products from these countries, such as cheeses and meats for the Deli Section, Fruit and Veg, traditional Arabic breads and stuffed baked goodies as well as meat and fish.

To make the festival more immersive, there will be a cultural display of dances from these countries.

On this occasion, new product lines from Egypt and Jordan will be unveiled and shoppers can take advantage of the best promotional prices.

“Arabic kitchens serve up excellent and hearty food and at LuLu, the ‘Flavours of Arabia’ festival is an attempt to put Arab culinary heritage on the table for our shoppers,” said Shehim Mohammed, “We want our customers to explore the taste of Arab food. Moreover, with the move towards local foods and produce, this is a great and tasty way to practice sustainable nutrition from the region.”
