Kazakhstan Seeks Stronger Ties with Saudi Arabia in Key Sectors
Kazakhstan's ambassador outlines plans to enhance political, trade, cultural, and agricultural cooperation with Saudi Arabia.
Kazakhstan’s ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Madiyar Menilbekov, has outlined his mission to deepen bilateral relations between the two countries, with a focus on political, trade, cultural, tourism, and agricultural cooperation.
Menilbekov emphasized the importance of strengthening political ties, following a successful working visit by Kazakhstan’s President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to Riyadh in December 2024. He also expressed a strong commitment to boosting trade and economic relations, noting plans for investment projects and missions between the two countries in 2025.
Tourism is another area of focus, with Menilbekov highlighting the growing number of Kazakh tourists visiting Saudi Arabia, particularly to Riyadh, AlUla, and Madinah.
He also pointed out that around 7,000 Saudis visit Kazakhstan annually, with over 20,000 Kazakhs traveling to Saudi Arabia.
On energy and agriculture, Menilbekov highlighted joint initiatives in renewable energy, such as a 1 gigawatt wind power project with ACWA Power Co. in Kazakhstan, and proposed future collaboration in agriculture to address food security.
He also praised Saudi Arabia for hosting international forums like the Future Minerals Forum and the FII, which provide significant opportunities for global networking and collaboration.
Menilbekov, who arrived in Riyadh as ambassador in May 2024, expressed admiration for Saudi Arabia’s ongoing reforms under Vision 2030, which he believes are transforming the country across various sectors, including culture, tourism, and sport.
