Japan Resumes $35M Funding to UNRWA for Palestine Refugees' Supplies and Medical Services
The Japanese government resumed funding for the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) with a $35 million donation.
The money will support essential supplies for women and babies in Gaza and medical services in the West Bank.
Japan had previously suspended funding after Israeli officials accused 12 UNRWA employees out of 30,000 of having links to militant groups.
Hamas carried out seven attacks, leading to the suspension of about $450 million in funding from Japan and 15 other countries to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) in Gaza.
The funding suspension caused operational turmoil in the war-torn region.
However, Japan and some other countries, including Australia and Canada, have since resumed their funding.
