Israel Conducts First Direct Air Raid on Yemen's Hodeidah Port
The Israeli military carried out its first direct large-scale air raid on Yemen's port city of Hodeidah on Saturday, sparking a massive fire. The strike was a response to Houthi militant attacks on civilian vessels and Israeli territory. Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu stated that the port had been used by the Houthis to receive weapons from Iran.
On Saturday, the Israeli military conducted its inaugural large-scale air raid on Yemen's port city of Hodeidah, igniting a massive fire at the port's oil terminal and other facilities.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) stated that the strikes were in retaliation for Houthi militant attacks on Israeli-linked civilian vessels and missile and drone strikes on Israel.
The IDF confirmed the target was military assets of the Houthi regime.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu alleged that the Houthis had been receiving weapons from Iran via the port.
The attacks also follow a recent Houthi drone strike on Tel Aviv, killing one person near the US Embassy office.
The Houthis, controlling much of Yemen, have been targeting Israeli-linked vessels since October, prompting a coalition response.
The Houthis warned that Israel's strikes on Hodeidah will not go unanswered.
