Israel Conducts Airstrikes on Houthi-Controlled Areas in Yemen
Israel launched airstrikes on Houthi-controlled areas in Yemen, targeting power plants and a seaport in response to recent Houthi attacks on Israel. The operation used dozens of aircraft and military spokesperson Captain David Avraham confirmed the focus was on locations used for transferring Iranian weaponry. Previous strikes in July caused significant damage following a Houthi drone attack in Tel Aviv.
The Israeli military targeted several Houthi rebel sites in Yemen on Sunday, striking power plants and a seaport using dozens of aircraft.
Following a missile attack on Israel's Ben Gurion Airport by the Iran-backed group, the large-scale air operation involved fighter jets, refueling planes, and reconnaissance aircraft.
The strikes focused on military-use locations in the Ras Issa and Hodeida areas.
According to military spokesman Captain David Avraham, these sites were used to transfer Iranian weaponry and military supplies.
In July, Israel also struck Hodeida port, causing substantial damage after a Houthi drone attack killed a civilian in Tel Aviv.
The recent strikes were in retaliation for recent Houthi aggressions against Israel, coinciding with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's return from New York.
Houthi-controlled Al-Masirah station confirmed the attacks on Hodeidah and Ras Issa ports and two power stations.
