Interim President of Syria Visits SDAIA Headquarters in Riyadh
Ahmad Al-Sharaa's visit to Saudi Arabia highlights discussions on artificial intelligence advancements and regional diplomacy.
Ahmad Al-Sharaa, the interim president of the Syrian Arab Republic, visited the Saudi Authority for Data and Artificial Intelligence (SDAIA) headquarters in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on Monday.
Al-Sharaa was welcomed by several prominent Saudi officials, including Minister of State Musaed bin Mohammed Al-Aiban, Minister of Communications and Information Technology Abdullah Alswaha, and Majed Al-Mazyed, Governor of the National Cyber Security Authority.
The president toured SDAIA's facilities, with Abdullah bin Sharaf Alghamdi, President of SDAIA, showcasing Saudi Arabia's technological advancements in artificial intelligence (AI) and big data.
The discussion highlighted Saudi efforts to become a global leader in AI technologies, particularly in line with Vision 2030, which aims to make the Kingdom a hub for technological innovation.
Alghamdi emphasized the optimization of data usage, including the success of the Tawakkalna application, which serves as a unified platform for government services.
Presentations were also delivered by the National Cybersecurity Authority and the Zakat, Tax, and Customs Authority, showcasing their roles in securing data and digital infrastructure.
Established in 2019 by royal decree, SDAIA is a key agency focused on the development of AI and big data.
Al-Sharaa's visit follows a meeting with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman on Sunday, where both leaders discussed enhancing security and stability in Syria, improving diplomatic ties, and reviewing broader regional developments.
After his visit to Riyadh, Al-Sharaa traveled to Jeddah and Makkah to perform Umrah, with images shared by the Saudi Press Agency showing him in Ihram, the traditional garment worn during the pilgrimage.
