Grand Mufti of Saudi Arabia Leads Islamic Scholars in Riyadh for 23rd Islamic Fiqh Council Session on Contemporary Jurisprudence Challenges
The Islamic Fiqh Council, led by Saudi Arabia's Grand Mufti Sheikh Abdulaziz Al-Asheikh, is holding its 23rd session in Riyadh to discuss contemporary challenges in Islamic jurisprudence.
Scholars and researchers from Islamic and Muslim-minority countries are attending the event, which runs from April 20 to 22.
The council aims to clarify Shariah rulings, demonstrate the adaptability of Islamic jurisprudence, and promote its heritage.
Al-Asheikh emphasized the flexibility and broad perspectives offered by Islamic jurisprudence, with its principles, rules, branches, fatwas, and diverse research on various topics.
A speech was given by Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa, secretary-general of the Muslim World League, expressing gratitude to King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman for their service to the Two Holy Mosques and support for scholars.
The session he was speaking at would review Shariah issues based on academic research conducted by distinguished scholars.
Hissein Brahim Taha, secretary-general of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, mentioned that the session was taking place during a critical period with significant intellectual and political challenges for the Islamic world.
The International Islamic Fiqh Academy, led by President Dr. Saleh bin Abdullah bin Humaid, focuses on Shariah, family, medical, economic, financial, and intellectual policies relevant to the Islamic community.
Secretary-General Dr. Koutoub Moustapha Sano emphasized the importance of unifying rulings in Islamic countries based on Islamic Shariah to achieve unity among Islamic peoples.
The upcoming session will include scientific discussions on contemporary jurisprudential issues and challenges.
