Golf tournament returns to Pirates Week schedule

Golf tournament returns to Pirates Week schedule

Golf will be back on the agenda as part of the annual Pirates Week festivities. The Pirates Week Charity Golf Classic will be held on 25 Oct. at North Sound Golf Course, and participants will have an opportunity to contribute to a good cause and win a new car.

The tournament is geared towards corporate teams and registration fees will assist in raising funds for Meals on Wheels Cayman.

The event will be organised for teams of four players in a ‘scramble’ format in which each member tees off from the hole and the team then selects the best shot.

Trac Automotive has signed on to be the automotive sponsor of the event, and any player who sinks a hole in one during the tournament will win a brand-new Changan CS35 SUV.

“This exciting tournament is open to everyone and golfers of all skill levels are encouraged to participate,” said event coordinator Anna Keating as part of a statement.

“The addition of a new car as the ‘Hole in One’ prize has certainly upped the stakes and has created a buzz among our corporate teams. The funds raised for Meals on Wheels depends heavily on the number of teams who sign up and Meals on Wheels as we know, provides hot nutritious meals to the most vulnerable in our society while helping Cayman’s seniors maintain their independence at home. We’re really looking forward to a thrilling afternoon while raising funds for this worthy cause.”

Each team entry costs $1,000 and includes green fees, cart rental, buffet dinner and a goodie bag. Interested players will have until 11 Oct. to register to participate.

“This year’s Charity Golf Classic promises to be a lot of fun,” said Pirates Week general manager Melanie McField as part of a press release. “It’s about bringing people together to celebrate what Cayman has to offer and providing another great opportunity for people to show their community spirit while having fun. Pirates Week truly has something for everyone to enjoy.”
