Gender-Based Disparity: Average Monthly Salary for Male and Female Saudis at SR9872 and SR6280
The latest figures suggest that the average monthly salary for Saudi men is SR 9,872, while Saudi women earn around SR 6,280.
Government data reveals that by the third quarter of 2023, Saudi men working in both government and private sectors had these average earnings, with women's average salaries trailing at approximately SR 6,280.
An analysis by Okaz/Saudi Gazette shows that there are 295,846 Saudi men in the government sector, collectively earning SR 4.16 billion per month. In contrast, 127,575 Saudi women have a combined monthly wage of SR 1.64 billion.
For non-Saudis, the scenario is reversed; female employees earn more on average than their male counterparts. In the government sector, 39,866 non-Saudi women receive a total of SR 359.91 million, averaging SR 9,028 each, while 73,365 non-Saudi men earn a total of SR 523.83 million, averaging SR 7,140 each.
In the private sector, again, non-Saudi women out-earn men with an average salary of SR 3,587, with a total of 621,715 women earning SR 2.23 billion. On the other hand, there are 7.56 million non-Saudi men with total earnings of SR 19.09 billion, averaging SR 2,523 per person.
Saudi males in government roles have an average salary of SR 14,053 while Saudi women earn about SR 12,872. There are approximately 1.35 million Saudis employed in the private sector with total earnings of SR 12.05 billion, averaging salaries of SR 8,953.
For the 927,624 Saudi women in the private sector, total salaries stand at SR 4.98 billion, with each woman earning an average of SR 5,373.
