French-Saudi Relations Strengthen with Strategic Partnership and Cultural Cooperation
On Bastille Day, the French Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Ludovic Pouille, lauded the strategic partnership and common vision shared by France and Saudi Arabia.
The two nations have a long history of diplomatic relations, which dates back to the opening of France's first consulate in Jeddah in 1830.
In recent times, the relationship has strengthened with the participation of Saudi Arabia's Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman in the Summit for a New Global Financial Compact, where both leaders found common ground on issues such as the need for a more responsive international financial system, finance for the green transition, and achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
Speaking to Arab News en Francais, Pouille thanked King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman for their role in strengthening the strategic partnership between the two nations.
He also highlighted the similarities in the visions of the two leaders, which were discussed during the three-hour-long meeting between the Crown Prince and French President Emmanuel Macron.
The French national holiday of Bastille Day, celebrated on July 14th, commemorates the storming of the Bastille prison in 1789, which marked the beginning of the French Revolution.
In France, the holiday is celebrated with parades, fireworks, and other festivities.
In conclusion, the strategic partnership between France and Saudi Arabia continues to grow, with shared priorities in areas such as trade relations, cultural cooperation, and the transition to a greener, more sustainable future.
France and Saudi Arabia are working closely together, with a relationship that has grown exponentially over the past two years.
The most recent example of this collaboration is the visit of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, who spent nearly two weeks in France last month, leading a large delegation of ministers.
The visit was the fourth time the two leaders have met in less than a year.
The two countries are working together in a range of sectors, including energy, defense, health, and telecommunications.
The most striking example of this relationship is France's cultural cooperation with Saudi Arabia, which is part of the Kingdom's Vision 2030 program to reform and diversify the economy.
Under this program, Saudi Arabia has invested heavily in new sectors such as sport, heritage, the arts, entertainment, and tourism, with the aim of creating job opportunities and a dynamic business startup scene for its young people.
One of the most significant cultural projects between the two countries is the partnership between the National Art Center and the Georges Pompidou Cultural Center and the Royal Commission for AlUla, which will establish a museum of contemporary art in AlUla, the first of its kind in the region.
Other notable projects include the anniversary of the 20 years of Franco-Saudi archaeological cooperation, which began in Hegra in 2002 and now extends to 16 emblematic places of the rich Saudi heritage.
The two countries are also collaborating in a range of other areas, including reciprocal cultural events and exchanges between film professionals, photography, gaming, fashion, design, and sport.
The French ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Jean-Baptiste Pouille, described the cultural cooperation as "expanding" and expressed his delight with the "vitality and dynamism" of the society.
Overall, the relationship between France and Saudi Arabia is strong and continues to grow.
Pouille said that "the sky's the limit" for the two countries' collaboration.
