Fastmarkets Reports Brief Delay in Saudi Arabia Rebar Price Publication After Technical Error
Steel market pricing notice indicates a short delay in the release of the domestic rebar price assessment, with data updated shortly thereafter
A routine price assessment for domestic reinforcing bar in Saudi Arabia was published later than scheduled on Monday after a technical error interrupted the normal release process, according to a pricing notice issued by Fastmarkets.
The assessment in question — covering steel reinforcing bar delivered within Saudi Arabia — was delayed by one hour and forty-five minutes before being published and integrated into the company’s steel pricing database.
The delay did not affect other published indices and was attributed to an internal error in the price publication workflow.
Reinforcing bar, commonly known as rebar, is a key input for construction and infrastructure projects, and transparent pricing information is closely watched by producers, buyers and analysts across the Middle East market.
Fastmarkets said it had updated its pricing database to reflect the delayed assessment and invited market participants to provide price data or feedback to support the accuracy of future assessments.
The notice illustrates the reliance of regional steel markets on independently verified price assessments to inform commercial contracts, risk management and economic analysis.
While such delays are infrequent, they are typically resolved quickly to ensure continuity and reliability of price reporting.
Fastmarkets emphasised that it will consider comments from contributors — including those that request confidentiality — to support the integrity of its data offerings.
